Discover how to obtain an official WhatsApp verified account

A commercial account on WhatsApp can be classified as either a "Official Business Account" or a "Regular Business Account".

Regular Business Account

Any new WhatsApp Enterprise user account will be classified as a "Regular Business Account". Completing the company profile in the account creation form can provide useful information to your customers. This information may include the company's website, address, and business details.

If the company sends a notification to a customer who does not have it in their contacts, the following options will be displayed. If the customer responds to the notification or adds the contact to their contacts, the options box will disappear.

Contact Card It's possible to send contact cards through Botmaker. Create a new intent and use the "Contact Sent" action. If sent and your customer adds the contact to their contact list, your company name will be visible to them on WhatsApp. It's a great tip to enhance customer experience.

Official Business Account

By obtaining an "Official Business Account", WhatsApp has determined that an authentic and recognized brand owns this account. This classification has a green icon with a checkmark in its profile and next to the header in the chat screen. The company name is visible even if the contact has not been added to the phone's address book.

At present, only certain companies are classified as "Official Business Accounts" on WhatsApp. The classification of companies for this profile is based on various factors, such as whether the company's brand is recognized. Using the official WhatsApp API does not guarantee that your account will be an Official Business Account.

Companies cannot request or pay to convert their "Business Account" to an "Official Business Account". Once your account is created, you can request the badge in your business manager.

Prerequisites for obtaining the Official Business Account Badge:

1. The number must be registered on the official WhatsApp API;
2. Compliance with WhatsApp's Business Policy;
3. Having a verified account in the business manager (Click here and follow the steps on how to verify);
4. Approved display profile name;
5. Two-step verification is activated.

Important: The Business Manager account in which the account was created must be verified to proceed with the verification request.
