Generative usage: estimate and monitor your bot's cost by tokens

In this article you'll learn how the use of generative technologies is billed in Botmaker 3.0 and where to review your usage.

Using AI Agents and the orchestrator consumes tokens, which is the unit used to measure and bill the generative model's processing. Each conversation, depending on its length and the number of agents and resources involved, generates usage. Botmaker gives you traceability of that usage so you can estimate and monitor it over time.

You can:

  • Check your project's generative usage.
  • See the detail broken down by project, by model, and by feature.
  • Monitor how your usage evolves to anticipate costs.

Key concepts

Token: the unit used to measure the generative model's processing; it's the basis of the usage calculation.

Generative usage: your project's accumulated use of generative technologies.

Breakdown: a view of usage split by project, by model, and by feature.

How to review your usage

Step 1: Go to Products and usage

In your account, open the Products and usage section and go to the generative usage view.

STEP 2: Review the breakdown

Check the usage tables, which show the detail by project, by model, and by feature. This lets you identify which part of your operation concentrates the most usage.

Step 3: Monitor the evolution

Review usage periodically to anticipate cost and detect variations. More concise designs —short tone and style, clear instructions— help the model process less and therefore lead to more efficient usage.
